One of the Worst Books Ever

This is honestly the worst book I've read in years. I dont know what these users are talking about! This book is filled with totally outrageous scenarios, Especially with the main character constantly making herself seem stupid. And then ending was the most ridiculous thing I've ever read, also with all the spelling errors. Do Not Buy...If you do make sure you pay under $3 for this crap!

As a member of the "Reading Is What We Do" Book Club, this was one of our recommended books to read. And what a trip this book took me on! It had a plot filled with more twists and turns than a country road. Just when you thought you had the plot all figured out and knew what would happen next..BAM..you got a surprise that had you saying, "What in the world....?? It was a roller coaster ride from beginning to end with this book by Pat Tucker..taking you higher and higher into a world of drama, betrayal, suspense and intrigue amidst sizzling passion! I found myself developing strong intense feelings about the actions of the characters and my emotions ranged from anger, amazement, laughter, empathy and at times wanting to shake some sense into a few of the characters..smile! This book will take you to places in your mind you didn't think existed! Buy it now to experience supreme reading pleasure and insight into the world of Infidelity!!

Clarke was defiantly a dog and Persha should have used some common sense when it came to the way he was treating her.How could she even lower her self into moving into this man house which he shared with his wife and not think nothing of it. boy, the things some women do for love.

About the Author

Alain Picard earned a BA in illustration from Western CT State University and went on to study at the Art Student's League in New York City. Picard sites Sargent, Degas, and Sorolla among his artistic influences. A love of light and beauty are immediately apparent in his pastel and oil paintings. Alain's work has been featured in such publication as as The Artist's Magazine and The Pastel Journal. He has garnered top awards throughout the Northeast in esteemed exhibitions including the Portrait Society of America, the Hudson Valley Art Association, the Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists, the Connecticut Pastel Society, and the Pastel Society of America. Alain is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America as well as the Connecticut Pastel Society, where he previously served as President. In 2004 The Artist's Magazine highlighted Alain as one of 20 contemporary artists "On the Rise." He later won the Best Portfolio Award at the 2009 Portrait Society of America Conference in Washington, D.C. A frequent workshop instructor and demonstrator for art associations, schools, galleries, and museums, Alain was recently invited to demonstrate a portrait in pastel at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Very Good with Pastel Basics

Beautiful cover. I gave this only 4 stars because I wish Alain Picard had done a larger book with much more content. He is a great artist.
However, if you are wanting to give soft pastels a try, for the cost, this is a very good start and the instruction is coming from an artist whose knowledge of pastels is huge. He has won award after award.
You will learn.
It is informative and does get into tools and materials, getting started, the basics and techniques of pastels...depth and form, even painting a portrait. Yes, there is some excellent instruction inside.
But, nothing you would not find in a larger instructional pastel book .
I still would recommend this book because it is a very helpful book in the introduction of pastels for a very low price.
Every page in this only 32 page soft covered (Walter Foster) book teaches.

Ronald M. Clancy s boxed set of "Best-Loved Christmas Carols" is such a good idea it is a wonder no one has produced something similar. The set has three parts: a compact disc of the songs, a songbook with lyrics and sheet music, and an illustrated book about the history and message of the songs. The CD has 25 Christmas carols recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, Philadelphia s St. Frances de Sales Boy Choir, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and others. It is 75 minutes of what I would agree are the best secular and religious Christmas songs - - and by that I mean no repetitive, saccharine Rudolph and Frosty. In the songbook each carol s sheet music and lyrics are set on one page for ease in actually singing them with friends and family. Last is the book of art and essays, which is a work of art itself. There are many full-color reproductions of Nativity and Epiphany paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens and lesser-known artists whose works you will recognize from holiday cards. Clancy chose art works that were created at the same time as the songs. So "Lo how a Rose E re Blooming," written in the 15th century, is illustrated with a page from the Salzburg Missal, a rare book in the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek in Munich, Germany. This 8-by-10 reproduction can be examined here more closely than would be possible even if you could hold the actual missal in your hand. Clancy chose the illuminated miniature painting "The Tree of Jesse," which shows the Madonna and Child as the flower at the top of a swirling tree that sprouts from the chest of the sleeping Jesse. More than great words and music, the stories behind these marvellous carols

I bought this multi-media package (book and CD) because I had already found and greatly enjoyed Ronald M. Clancy's discussion of Sacred Christmas Music, and was keen to see what else Clancy could tell me. I am not disappointed, and am looking forward to giving my wife an unexpected and very special Christmas present this year -- 2013!
Although I am already familiar with most of theses classic Christmas carols (e.g. Aled Jones has a good, but simple book about the backgrounds of some of these carols), I like finding out the deeper history and details.
Clancy does not write as a dry academic, musically or historically, but approaches his subject from personal enjoyment, and decades of research.
This is essential material for anyone who wants to know WHO and WHEN and WHAT and WHY behind the great carols of Christmas.
Apart from the outstanding text, Clancy's book contains outstanding Christmas art, and the whole set includes simply breath-taking musical renditions of each carol.
Very highly recommended -- possibly THE PERFECT Christmas carol collection, ever!

So dynamic and kept me guessing! I can't wait to read the next book!

Full disclosure: The author presented me with a free copy of this book for an honest review.

I have always enjoyed stories of a time long since past, and this book certainly has a story that captivates. The story is set many hundreds of years ago in the highlands during a time when local Lairds ruled the regions under the king. The reader is introduced to a fair, young, nobel lady from the lowlands named Katharine, who lives under her uncle's heartless rule. Since her father passed away, her power hungry uncle swooped in and claimed her region and rules with little care or concern for the people. Katharine's uncle was pleased to marry off his niece and give her new husband a very large dowry. Part of the arrangement was Katharine had to renounce her claim to rule her native-born lands.

Katharine's new husband is a total and complete stranger from the highlands named Naill. He is large as a giant, very intimidating, and is the Laird of Duncarra. Naill brings Katharine back to his keep at the heart of the village. She sees why he was so eager to marry a stranger, the very large dowry was the lifeline his land needed to survive. As the story progresses, the reader grows very attached to the characters and the growing love between the newly married couple. Naill is a flawed man who has been spurned by love in the past and desperately wants to shield his heart from Katherine.

Katharine's good nature and compassion for his people is so endearing. Katherine is also a healer as well as a lady and I enjoyed reading about the various concoctions used to help treat the sick and injured people of Duncarra. Some of the treatments are used today (dandelion root for example). Things are finally going so well for Katharine and she is very happy to have a new home with people she can love and be loved in return. Things seem short lived, though, and Naill's terrible step mother comes into the picture and stakes her claim as the Lady of Duncarra. the wretched woman is no better than the abusive uncle Katharine left behind.

When things are turned upside down and threats are ever present to the land of Duncarra, to Naill, and to Katharine, the reader is left with nothing to do but keep turning the pages. I was surprised at every turn with the plot development and I was always trying to figure out who is behind all of the deceit. I fear that I can say no more for risk of spoiling the incredible story.

The author has done a fantastic job of creating such an intricate story with largely dynamic characters. I am looking forward to reading the inspirational versions (where the romance scenes fade to black) of the next stories in the series!

Highland Solution by Ceci Giltenan is honestly one of the best books I have read this year. It really amazes me this is the authors first time out writing a historical romance as this is one of the best books I have read this year and I read a lot in this genre. If you love authors like Diana Gabaldon, Laurin Wittig, Tanya Anne Crosby and Suzan Tisdale I promise you will love this book. It starts out as the heroine Lady Katherine Ruthven is given a choice between the convent or arranged marriage by her abusive Uncle Baron Ambrose Ruthven. The marriage is to handsome highland who need the marriage to save his clan from ruin Laird Niall MacIan as his wicked step mother spends every penny in her selfish pursuits in Edinburgh and he suspect some neighboring old feuds have stirred uo again and are stealing from his starving clan as well. Basically he has no choice although due to a past betrayal marriage is the last thing Niall wants, but he has no choice plus he has been given permission from King David himself. Of course when he sees how beautiful Katherine is and learns of the torture she had to endure living with her horrific Uncle things start to change. Maybe all women aren't from the same apple tree after all?

This book really had me totally captivated and I also loved the love Katherine feel for stable boy orphan waif Tomas who Katherine convinces Niall to bring along or the boy will be horribly abused by her evil Uncle. I also enjoyed some on the secondary characters such as Fingal , Niall's half brother I am really hoping the author Miss Giltenan writes her next book about him I totally adored his character as well as neighboring clan Laird Tadhg Matheson also another secondary character I enjoyed for a future book as I see it. This story really had me hanging on by the edge of my seat as with so many different conflicts and beside the love story there is murder, mystery and suspense as well. I felt so many emotions through this read really love when that happens only when ready a really wonderful over the top read. As in all good books there are villains as well who might put an end to Katherine and Niall's happiness such as his step mother and Fingal's biological mother Ethne and also Malcolm MacLennan who is an allied clan leader and has always been like a devoted Uncle to the MacIan brothers and it certainly surprised me as I will leave it at that. Lots of surprises in this book too in the story-lines, plots as the main characters in this book keep changing. Once you think you have it figured out and then another twist and turn and they become something so completely different then you thought.

I definitely recommend this book to everyone it was absolutely fabulous one of the best reads I have read this year! As for the lassies who enjoy a fine looking lad in a kilt and spending a a few wee hours in the Scottish Highlands then this book is definitely for you! Give this debut author a chance I promise you will not be disappointed actually quite the opposite, as you will be delighted and mesmerized instead! I would give this book ten stars if I could yes loved it that much! I so look forward to more wonderful books by Ceci Giltenan a definitely keeper in my book!

I am so honored to have been turned on to Ceci's excellent writing This author is one of the very best in her gente.I just finished my fourth book by her and can honestly say I am far from finished .This has been an experience I will not soon forget .As long as Ceci writes I will be an ardent fan .Thanks for bringing me out of my rut and turning me on to a wider world I will be encouraging all my high school students to open their minds to this excellent author .Her books are well written well edited and extremely exciting .
